Sustainable Business – For People, the Environment, and Development.
Sustainability is a broad concept. In the past, it primarily referred to the environment around us—our planet, its nature, and its resources. At Götessons Design Group, the state of our planet is a key reason why we strive for a more sustainable business. But for us, sustainability has always meant more than that. We are passionate about creating better and more sustainable workplaces, where people feel good and can perform at their best throughout the workday. Simply put, Human Design. Together, we can do our part for a better world while driving more sustainable business practices.
We work with sustainable development in two focus areas: one concerns product design and materials, as well as their function, usage, and manufacturing. Our most essential sustainability issues include material choices, responsible supply chains, circularity, product development, and workplace well-being. The other area focuses on people—how we and our products contribute to human sustainability. This applies not only to our employees but also to those who use our products.

A Sustainable Workday for Everyone
A sustainable workday for everyone—for the people using our products, for those in our supply chains, and for our own employees. This includes developing products that enhance user well-being, ensuring ethical and responsible supply chains that respect human rights, and maintaining high employee satisfaction, a safe work environment, and internal security. This is the core of our business and the reason we exist—to contribute to a more sustainable workday.
Sustainable furniture, designed for people
Here, we focus on the product itself—material selection, design, construction, and components—ensuring everything is thoughtfully considered, controlled, and meets relevant sustainability criteria. High product quality, safety and quality testing, smart design, the absence of hazardous substances, and the use of sustainable materials are all essential to us.

People
The sound environment must not be overlooked. It is essential for well-being, comfort, and success. We live in a world where many experience high levels of stress and pressure, and we are convinced that the sound environment plays a significant role in driving positive change. That’s why our products are always designed with people in focus.

DESIGN
Balancing design, function, and sustainability is both an art and a challenge. At Götessons Design Group, we always work consciously, smartly, and with people in focus. This way, we create furniture and interiors that last beyond trends.

MATERIAL
We always strive to think smart when developing products and carefully select our materials. In our commitment to making responsible material choices, we also aim to limit the number of suppliers. By refining our designs and using the same environmentally friendly and functional materials, we can streamline our product range. This gives us greater control over our products while challenging our creative abilities.

LOGISTIC
With a high turnover and frequent shipments, deliveries are a key factor. We have made significant improvements, reducing carbon emissions substantially each year. Environmental efforts should not be seen as a cost—in fact, for us, it’s quite the opposite. Efficient and precise production processes provide us with an economic advantage while also benefiting the environment.

Materials and Production – The Biggest Challenges
It may sound like a cliché that the biggest challenges also bring the greatest opportunities, but in our case, it’s undeniably true. Materials and product manufacturing are the areas where we face the greatest challenges in terms of environmental impact. The raw materials used in our products play a crucial role, as this—along with the production process—is where a significant portion of the environmental footprint originates. Our goal is to increase the use of recycled materials to reduce unnecessary strain on the planet’s resources.
We are already making progress, which can be seen in our product range. The Medley Ball features a textile cover made from production waste of various fabrics. EcoSUND, our sound absorber, is made entirely of PET, 50% of which is recycled, and the entire product is recyclable. Within our textile range, we offer several fabrics that are post-consumer recycled and certified with OEKO-TEX and the EU EcoLabel. Additionally, many of our products can be certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel by using approved fabrics.
Credibility and Certifications
We believe in working with proven and thoroughly reviewed methods. That’s why we offer products certified by both Möbelfakta and the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Möbelfakta sets requirements for quality, components, finished products, and social responsibility throughout the supply chain. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel, on the other hand, imposes strict environmental criteria at the product level. You can find more information about our Type 1-certified products on our product pages.
To make it easier to compare products from a sustainability perspective within our own range, we have developed an internal product labeling system called “A Better Product Choice.” We have established eight parameters, and a product must meet at least five of them to be recommended as a more environmentally responsible option. Read more about this labeling here.
